Chai - Indian Spiced Tea

Authentic Indian spiced tea with cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. Warming and aromatic!

Ingredients

4 cups liquid (2 cups skim milk + 2 cups water) 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk 5 teaspoons sugar 3/4 teaspoon cardamom seeds 6 whole cloves 3/4 teaspoon cassia bark or cinnamon stick pieces 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger Pinch of black pepper (less than 1/8 teaspoon) 4-5 tea bags or 2 tablespoons loose tea

Instructions

1. In medium pot, combine everything except tea. 2. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently and watching very carefully. 3. When milk starts to boil up, reduce heat and simmer. 4. Add tea bags and steep 3-5 minutes. 5. Strain and serve hot. Note: You can substitute ground spices for whole spices. Adjust sweetness to taste.
