Classic Stovetop Polenta

Master the traditional method for perfect creamy polenta. The foundation for any topping!

Ingredients

X cups cornmeal (polenta) 4X cups water Salt to taste

Instructions

Standard Method: 1. In heavy saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add salt. 2. Stirring constantly, pour cornmeal into water in a steady stream. 3. Reduce heat to slow simmer. 4. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until porridge becomes very thick (spoon can stand in it). 5. Scrape polenta into non-stick pan or ceramic dish. 6. Cool completely - polenta will be like a loaf. 7. To serve: cut into slices, heat in oven, and top as desired. Quickie Method: Use microwave on medium power, stirring between intervals.
