A beginner-friendly angel food cake using regular all-purpose flour. Top with a simple vanilla honey glaze.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup confectioner's sugar
12 egg whites (1 1/2 cups)
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
For glaze: powdered sugar, vanilla, honey, water
Instructions
1. Heat oven to 375°F.
2. Stir together flour and confectioner's sugar; set aside.
3. In large mixer bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt until foamy.
4. Add granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
5. Gently fold in vanilla.
6. Sprinkle flour-sugar mixture 1/4 cup at a time over meringue, folding in gently.
7. Push batter into ungreased tube pan. Cut through batter with knife to remove air pockets.
8. Bake 30-35 minutes until top springs back when touched.
9. Invert pan on funnel; let hang until completely cool.
10. For glaze, mix powdered sugar with vanilla, honey, and enough water for glaze consistency.
