Like stuffed cabbage but easier! Layers of cabbage with seasoned TVP in tomato sauce.
Ingredients
1 head cabbage, coarsely chopped
2 cups TVP, dry
1 3/4 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 egg whites
1 can tomato soup, condensed
2 cups tomato juice
1 can water
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Cook cabbage in 1 cup water, covered, for 5 minutes.
3. Reconstitute TVP in boiling water.
4. Add onion, spices, and egg whites to TVP.
5. Mix tomato juice, soup, and water.
6. Spread half the cabbage in 9x13 baking dish.
7. Spread TVP mixture on top.
8. Cover with remaining cabbage.
9. Pour tomato mixture over all.
10. Cover with foil and bake 1 1/2 hours.
