Spicy seitan strips with a sweet and tangy sauce. Great appetizer!
Ingredients
2 lbs seitan, cut into strips
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Instructions
1. In 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, brown seitan on all sides.
2. Add ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, ginger, crushed red pepper, and 3/4 cup water.
3. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, simmer 5-10 minutes.
4. Stir cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water in a cup.
5. Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into simmering liquid.
6. Cook until mixture thickens slightly and boils.
7. Cover seitan with sauce and serve.
