Easy Crockpot Apple Butter

No-stir crockpot method for apple butter. Start with applesauce for the lazy version!
Ingredients
6 (14 oz) cans unsweetened applesauce
OR about 3 lbs apples, chopped with a little water
3 cups sugar (white, brown, or other sweetener)
Note: Can use 1 cup or none for cooking use
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
Instructions
1. Put applesauce and sugar in crockpot. (If using artificial sweetener, add after cooking and cooling.)
2. Cook until about half the original volume.
3. Suggested timing: high for 3 hours, low for 9 hours, high again for 8 hours. (Timing is flexible!)
4. Add seasonings in the last half hour of cooking.
5. Makes about 6 cups.
Note: The crockpot method avoids the frequent stirring needed by stovetop methods!
