Green Beans in Black Bean Sauce

A fabulous rich dish with green beans in savory fermented black bean sauce. Special occasion worthy!
Ingredients
1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 jalapenos, seeded and diced
2 tablespoons fermented black soybeans
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
1.5 teaspoons potato starch or cornstarch
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons sake or rice wine
Instructions
1. Cut green beans into 1.5 inch pieces. Blanch for 3 minutes in boiling water. Drain and set aside.
2. Mix garlic, jalapeno, and black beans together. Set aside.
3. Mix rice vinegar, tamari, starch, sugar, and sake. Set aside.
4. Have a glass of water ready by the stove.
5. Heat skillet over high heat. Add garlic mixture. Stir fry for 1 minute, adding water as needed.
6. Add green beans and stir fry for 5 minutes, adding water as needed.
7. Add vinegar mixture, stirring until sauce thickens. Serve immediately.
