Simple Refried Beans

Homemade fat-free refried beans that taste better than store-bought.

Ingredients

2 cans pinto beans, drained (reserve liquid) 1 onion, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon chili powder Salt to taste Reserved bean liquid as needed

Instructions

1. Sauté onion in small amount of water until soft. 2. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. 3. Add beans and spices. 4. Mash with potato masher, adding bean liquid for desired consistency. 5. Cook 5-10 minutes, stirring often. 6. Adjust seasonings to taste.
