Baked Yam Koftas in Green Gravy

Baked yam balls served in a vibrant cilantro-pea gravy. A showstopper dish!
Ingredients
Koftas:
2 medium yams, peeled, sliced, boiled, drained
1/2 cup peas
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 jalapeños, minced (optional)
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
Pinch pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Gravy:
1/4 cup peas
1/2 cup green bell pepper
1/2 cup cilantro
1 jalapeño (optional)
1 clove garlic
1/4 teaspoon black mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
3/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup water
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Combine all kofta ingredients and mix thoroughly.
3. Form into 1-inch balls.
4. Bake on nonstick sheet 1 inch apart until golden, about 30 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, blend first 5 gravy ingredients with 1 cup water.
6. Heat mustard seeds in saucepan until they pop.
7. Add blended ingredients, cook 5 minutes.
8. Add remaining gravy ingredients, simmer 10 minutes.
9. Cool koftas 5 minutes.
10. Pour gravy into serving dish, add koftas.
11. Serve hot with basmati rice pilaf.
